She began her life behind walls in a world where freedom was not free and heavily restricted. Speaking out was dangerous. When the German Wall came down in 1989 a whole new world opened up for her. She and her family decided on a new life, in a new country, in the land with the biggest opportunities. Of course there have been challenges to.
After relocating to the U.S., Annett and her husband builded their own business. Later during the housing crisis Annett expanded into the real estate world. Admits a recession she than launched her own brokerage.
But the real trigger came in a moment she never expected. A real estate coach advised her to "lose the accent" and "fit in" if she ever wanted to succeed in real estate. The message was clear: blending in was the conformity to success in real estate.
This advice hit Annett hard. Having escaped a life of conformity and restrictions, she now faced this again. A life of either staying true to herself or playing it safe to succeed in a new business. The stakes were high. Her identity, her business, her success, and even her integrity were at risk. It felt like the world was asking her to compromise herself once again to move forward.
Annett didn't follow the advice to blend in. Instead, she chose the road less traveled, embracing her accent and her authentic self. But the journey wasn’t easy. She faced isolation, and rejection from others who believed in blending in to get ahead.
