AND STRATEGIES TO TAKE CONTROL OF THEIR OWN MARKETING.
We’ve positioned agents, teams, and brokerages so that they own their market, build their brand to create their legacy OR
they will stay a commodity.
Positioning is the foundation of any successful real estate business. and Annett worked over the past decade with agents to create individuell customized video marketing strategies that attract clients naturally. When agents position themself in the right way, clients won’t ask, "Why you?” - they’ll ask.
Let me share a real moment with you.
I was reviewing one of my own videos recently, and I’ll be honest-I totally botched it. I mean, I didn’t just miss the mark a little; I blew it right out of the gate. But you know what? That "failure" taught me one of the most valuable lessons about creating impactful video content that I want to share today with you.
Here’s the deal: If you’re creating videos, you have to get into your video insights. Right now.
Why? Because your insights tell the full story, not just how many people saw your video, but how long they stayed, where they dropped off, and whether your message resonated. Let me walk you through what happened with my video and what I learned so you can apply it to your own content.
I started this particular video the way I normally don't do, introducing myself first:
"Hello, Gruess Gott and Guten Tag, my name is Annett T. Block, your favorite real estate marketing mentor."
Sounds fine, right? Wrong.
When I checked my video insights, here’s what I saw:
499 people reached
406 watched it
165 watched at least 3 seconds
Only 25 made it to 15 seconds (the "throughplay")
What went wrong? As I dug into the data, it became crystal clear: My hook wasn’t even there. I lost the first 3 seconds with my intro instead of grabbing attention.
In fact, I likely turned people off because my greeting wasn’t engaging, it was confusing. I started with a mix of languages, which probably made people think, “Wait, is this in German?” And just like that, they were gone.
This experience reminded me of a crucial truth: Your first 3 seconds make or break your video.
Why? Because those 3 seconds determine whether people stay or scroll away. If your hook doesn’t immediately grab their attention and give them a reason to watch, they’re gone.
In another video, I used a stronger hook:
“If you’re doing videos, you don’t want to miss this.”
The difference? That simple, direct statement pulled people in because it immediately told them what they’d get out of the video.
My video insights didn’t just show me where I went wrong, they gave me a roadmap for how to fix it. Here’s what I learned:
Hook Rate is Everything:
The number of people who watch the first 3 seconds is your hook rate. If people aren’t sticking around, it’s a sign your opening needs work.
Throughplay Tells a Story:
The number of people who watch 15 seconds (or more) shows how well your content is keeping their attention. It’s a huge drop-off point, and it tells you if your message is resonating.
Deeper Engagement Equals Opportunity:
When someone watches 25% or more of your video, that’s a sign they’re interested. For a 5-minute video, that’s about a minute. These viewers are golden, they’ve invested their time, and they’re more likely to engage further.
Now, I’m intentional about checking my video insights on Facebook, YouTube, and other platforms. If I see a problem with the hook, I make changes:
Cut and Replace: I use CapCut to cut out the weak first 3 seconds of my video and replace it with a stronger hook.
Refine the Message: I adjusted my intro to immediately grab attention and deliver value up front.
Test and Retarget: I use insights to identify viewers who made it to 25% or more of my videos. These are the people I retarget with more in-depth content, because they’ve already shown interest.
This isn’t about creating the "perfect" video—it’s about learning from your data. Your insights are a goldmine. They show you what’s working, what’s not, and where you can improve.
Here’s what you should do today:
Go into your video insights.
Look at your hook rate (3-second views).
Check your throughplay rate (15-second views).
Identify viewers who watched 25% or more of your video.
Use this data to tweak your hooks, refine your content, and create videos that people want to watch.
Video content is one of the most powerful tools you have, but only if you use it strategically. By diving into your insights and making adjustments, you can create videos that don’t just get views, they build trust, spark interest, and drive results.
Are you ready to turn your videos into a lead-generating machine? Take a look at your data today, make some tweaks, and watch the magic happen.
And if you need help fine-tuning your message, you can start by subscribing to my 60 sec newsletter that gives you daily proven tips.
Let’s make those first 3 seconds count.
As always thank you for taking the time and read my insights. It means a lot to me.
