Let me tell you something I’ve learned after years in the game: the endless chase for leads is a trap.
It’s the same story I hear over and over again if it is from business owners or real estate agents:
“I need more leads.”
“If only I could get better leads.”
But here’s the truth—and it might sting a little: The problem isn’t the leads. It’s how we're approaching them.
Here’s the mindset shift that changed everything for me.
In my world, a lead isn’t “good” or “bad.” It’s simply someone who I can follow up with and gives me the opportunity to nurture, stay top-of-mind, and build trust.
But here’s the kicker: So many miss this entirely.
Many are so obsessed with finding the next lead, the perfect lead and completely overlook the ones they already have. Now leads are treated like problems to be solved instead of connections to be cultivated.
If you are chasing leads, STOP. You’re not in the lead-chasing business. You’re in the relationship-building business.
When I realized this, I stopped obsessing over the endless hunt for “more” leads.
Instead, I turned my focus to a single question:
How can I become the one person my leads trust? How can I understand their needs so well that I’m the first person they think of when they’re ready?
That’s when everything changed.
I stopped treating leads like transactions and started treating them like relationships. I followed up. I nurtured those connections. I stayed visible and consistent.
And guess what? When the time came, they didn’t just remember me—they chose me.
Here’s the thing: We all don’t need “better” leads. We need better approaches.
Because every lead, no matter where it comes from, has the potential to turn into gold when we handle it the right way.
The secret to success isn’t in the quantity or even the quality of leads. It’s in what we do with them.
