When I first started in real estate, a coach told me something I’ll never forget...and not in a good way.
“Tone down your accent,” he said. “Take speaking lessons. Follow what everyone else is doing.”
He even compared me to Arnold Schwarzenegger. “Go and take speaking lessons like Arnold. He was told the same thing: ‘Lose the accent, change your body, blend in.’”
And you know what? That advice didn’t sit right with me. Not for Arnold. Not for me. And I believe not for anyone.
What Makes You Different Is Your Power
Let’s look at Arnold for a second. He didn’t become a star because he blended in. He became a star because he embraced everything that made him different.
His thick accent. His larger-than-life physique. His unique presence. These weren’t things to hide, they were his brand.
The moment I stopped trying to fit into a mold and leaned into what made me different, everything changed.
I stopped apologizing for my accent and started speaking with confidence and conviction. I stopped following everyone else’s path and created my own. I let my bold ideas, fresh approach, and passion for doing things differently define me.
Resilience Comes From Authenticity
Here’s what I believe with every fiber of my being: You don’t have to blend in to succeed. In fact, blending in is the fastest way to stay invisible.
In real estate, so many people think they have to cold call endlessly, knock on doors, or try to be like the top producer they’re comparing themselves to. But that’s not true.
You don’t have to follow someone else’s blueprint.
You don’t have to change who you are.
You don’t have to do it “their way.”
What you do need is to tap into what makes you, YOU. Your story. Your voice. Your vision. That’s how you stand out. That’s how you build a business that feels authentic and works on your terms.
